The “Scream” thriller series is finally returning to television but on a different network. MTV is moving the series to VH1, and the network released a teaser trailer on Monday afternoon to bring back former viewers.
VH1 created a promo trailer for the show’s third season, telling followers, “Get a first look at VH1’s Scream, a 3-night event starring Mary J. Blige, Tyga, CJ Wallace, Keke Palmer & Paris Jackson.”
While details on the new season are scarce, the show is scheduled to debut on VH1 on July 8th.
According to the social media post, the season will air across three nights, with each night premiering two episodes. Fans have been waiting a long time to see the new season, which was first confirmed back in 2016.
Thriller fans can watch the season 3 trailer below, thanks to a quick upload by VH1’s social media team.
“Scream” debuted just before MTV switched over to a full slate of reality TV shows and other unscripted content. The change in programming let “Scream” fall by the wayside, without a proper place on the schedule. Now the series is being resurrected, on MTV’s sister site.
Season 1 debuted on MTV back in 2015 and contained ten episodes. The show was a hit on social media and MTV renewed the series for another season. Season 2 aired on the network in 2016, and fans have been waiting for season 3 since October of that year. Let’s hope it was worth the wait.
It seems unlikely at this point that VH1 will renew the series, but if “Scream” brings in enough viewers, there’s a small chance that the show could return for another round of episodes. On the bright side, fans get new episodes to watch during the summer but remember to switch over to VH1 and not MTV to find them.
