Another shark thriller is hoping to take a bite out of the box office this summer. Entertainment Studios released a first look trailer for “47 Meters Down: Uncaged,” an underwater scarefest coming to theaters this August.

The movie is a sequel to Johannes Roberts’ “47 Meters Down,” which released in 2017 and featured Mandy Moore, Claire Holt, and Matthew Modine. The thriller opened in fifth-place on the domestic charts in June, making $11M on opening weekend before grossing $44M for the studio.

The new story picks up when four friends go diving into submerged caves. It doesn’t take the girls long to realize that they are not alone, and they swim deeper into the caves system to escape. As the girls try and navigate the caves, they swim right into the territory of a deadly shark species.

Fans of the genre can watch the first official trailer below. The movie features John Corbett, Nia Long, Brec Bassinger, Corinne Foxx, Sophie Neliisse, Brianne Tju, and Sistine Rose Stallone.

The sequel is releasing in August this year, opening against the comedy “Good Boys” with Jacob Tremblay and the crime drama “The Informer” with Joel Kinnaman, Rosamund Pike, and Clive Owen. That’s the same weekend that United Artists is releasing “Where’d You Go, Bernadette” with Cate Blanchett, Kristen Wiig, and Judy Greer.

Quite a few thrillers are opening in August, but the releases are spread throughout the month. The drama thriller “Luce” with Naomi Watts, Octavia Spencer, and Tim Roth is opening against the specialty release of “Them That Follow” with Olivia Colman, Walton Goggins, Jim Gaffigan, and Thomas Mann. The following week Lionsgate is releasing “Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark,” and at the end of the month, FOX Searchlight is releasing the horror-thriller “Ready or Not” with Adam Brody, Andie MacDowell, and Henry Czerny.

“47 Meters Down: Uncaged” hits theaters nationwide on August 16th.
