As promised, Hideo Kojima’s upcoming game “Death Stranding” released a wide array of updates on Wednesday morning. The most important announcement was the release date, which is now firmly set for November 8, 2019. In the game, players take on the role of Sam Bridges, who is bypassing a dystopian nation to save humanity from extinction.

In a post on the Playstation Blog, creator Hideo Kojima left a message for fans.

“People have created “Walls” and become accustomed to living in isolation,” Kojima said in a statement. “Death Stranding” is a completely new type of action game, where the goal of the player is to reconnect isolated cities and a fragmented society. It is created so that all elements, including the story and gameplay, are bound together by the theme of the “Strand” or connection. As Sam Porter Bridges, you will attempt to bridge the divides in society, and in doing create new bonds or “Strands” with other players around the globe. Through your experience playing the game, I hope you’ll come to understand the true importance of forging connections with others.”

The creator also released a new trailer for the game, which you can watch below.

The game is releasing in several different editions. Players can choose between the Standard Edition, Special Edition, Digital Deluxe Edition, and Collector’s Edition. All of the editions include the game, and bonus incentives if you order before the release date.
