DC Comics is gearing up for the debut of “Swamp Thing” on the DC Universe streaming platform. The new series goes live on Friday, and fans can get a better look at the show’s lead character, Abby Arcane, in the new video.
Crystal Reed stars in “Swamp Thing” as Abby Arcane; the video spend most of its time following her around during the investigation while keeping the titular character in the shadows. The story follows Arcane as she investigates what seems to be a deadly swamp-born virus in a small town in Louisiana. Soon Arcane realizes that the swamp holds mystical and terrifying secrets. The company teased the series on social media adding, “When unexplainable and chilling horrors emerge from the murky marsh, no one is safe.”
The Swamp Thing is played by Andy Bean, with Alec Holland taking the role of the human alter ego. Additional cast members include Maria Sten, Jeryl Prescott, Henderson Wade, Kevin Durand, Will Patton, Virginia Madsen, and Ian Ziering.
James Wan executive produced the series with Mark Verheiden, Gary Dauberman, Michael Clear and Len Wiseman. “Swamp Thing” is based on the DC characters originally written and drawn by Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson. The video below shows some of the horrors that are going down in Louisiana and introduces viewers to Arcane and the team leading the investigation. People are dropping pretty quickly in the trailer, and Arcane will have to work fast if she wants to have anyone left in her sleepy, and murky, home town.
“Swamp Thing” is the third live-action series on the DC Universe, following “Titans” and “Doom Patrol.” Verheiden and Dauberman wrote the pilot episode, and Wiseman is set to direct the series.
DC fans get 10 episodes of “Swamp Thing” starting on Friday, May 31.
