Netflix released a trailer for “Always be my Maybe,” a new romantic comedy that shows a lot of promise. Directed by Nahnatchka Khan, the film features Ali Wong and Randall Park, with a few surprise faces that we won’t ruin. Stick around for this trailer, everything’s worth the wait.
The logline reads, childhood friends Sasha and Marcus have a falling out and don’t speak for 15 years. But when Sasha, now a celebrity chef in Los Angeles, returns to her hometown of San Francisco to open a new restaurant, she runs into her old pal — a happily complacent musician still living at home and working for his dad. Though the two are reluctant to reconnect, they soon find the old sparks — and maybe some new ones — are there.
Netflix teased the rom-com adding, “Everyone assumed Sasha and Marcus would wind up together except for Sasha and Marcus. Reconnecting after 15 years, the two start to wonder… maybe?”
Netflix has no shortage of rom-coms in its library, but while most of them focuses on young adults, this one features an adult love-story that is all too familiar. The film is releasing on Netflix, and select theaters at the end of May, and fans can watch the trailer below to get the idea.
Even if you’re not a traditional fan of rom-coms, this particular installment looks like a pretty terrific comedy. You can set a reminder to catch the new movie on May 31st when it is available domestically on Netflix. You can check local listings to see if it’s coming to a theater near you.
