One of Amazon’s most popular tablets received a refresh this week. The best-selling Fire 7 tablet now has a faster processor; 16 GB of internal storage; and hands-free access to Alexa. Even with the upgrades, the Fire 7 is still only $49 and is now available in Black, Sage, Plum, and Twilight Blue.

As a special introductory offer, customers who purchase an all-new Fire 7 before June 6th will receive a $10 credit for the Amazon Appstore. The Fire 7 and Fire 7 Kids Edition is available today for pre-order right here on Amazon, with cases available in Charcoal Black, Sage, Plum, Twilight Blue, and Desert Orange.

“Fire 7 is our best-selling tablet with tens of millions sold,” said Kevin Keith, Vice President, Amazon Devices. “For under $50, we’re making it even better for customers with a faster processor and 2x the storage, so customers can enjoy even more of their favorite entertainment at home and on-the-go. And, with hands-free access to Alexa on Fire 7, it’s never been easier to get the news, find a recipe, play music, and more.”

The new device runs on a quad-core 1.3 GHz processor and can be equipped with 16 GB or 32 GB of internal storage. The Fire 7 now supports up to 512 GB of expandable storage via microSD card, which is great since you can download content form Prime Video or Netflix for offline viewing. When connected to Wi-Fi, users can summon Alexa on the device, or turn it on or off in device settings. The new processor runs a 7” IPS display, and Amazon claims that the new model is twice as durable as the latest iPad mini. Amazon also stated that the device gets 7 hours of use on a full charge, and offers a 720p front-facing camera with free, unlimited cloud storage.

The device also comes with Amazon’s most popular features, like ASAP, For You, X-Ray, Second Screen, Amazon FreeTime, Family Library, Blue Shade, On Deck, Prime Video downloads, and more.
