With “Avengers: Endgame” still topping the box office charts, Sony Pictures is capitalizing on Marvel fever by dropping the official “Spider-Man: Far From Home” trailer. The film stars Tom Holland, Samuel L. Jackson, Zendaya, Cobie Smulders, Jon Favreau, JB Smoove, Jacob Batalon, Martin Starr, Marisa Tomei, and Jake Gyllenhaal, and is hitting theaters this summer.
In the film, Peter Parker returns from his battle with Thanos and gets a much-deserved vacation. Peter join his best friends Ned, MJ, and the rest of the gang on a European vacation, but things don’t go according to plan. Spider-Man thought he could leave being a superhero at home for a few weeks, but agrees to help Nick Fury uncover the mystery of several elemental creature attacks, creating havoc across the continent. No rest for the weary, fans of the neighborhood web-slinger can watch the official trailer below, with music from The Ramones.
The first Spider-Man film released in the Sony/Marvel partnership hit theaters back in 2017 and had a $117M opening weekend before going on to make over $334M domestically and over $880M worldwide. “Spider-Man: Homecoming” featured Tom Holland, Michael Keaton, Robert Downey Jr., Donald Glover, Zendaya, and Marisa Tomei.
Directed by Jon Watts, working from a script written by McKenna and Erik Sommers, the film is based on the Marvel comic book by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko.
Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal served as producers on the project, with Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Thomas M. Hammel, Eric Hauserman Carroll, Rachel O’Connor, Stan Lee, Avi Arad, and Matt Tolmach serving as executive producers.
Meanwhile, “Avengers: Endgame” just became the second highest-grossing film of all time over the weekend. The Marvel installment bumped “Titanic” from second-place, and is ready to take down “Avatar” next.
Sony Pictures will release “Spider-Man: Far From Home” on July 2.
