A reunion of sorts is happening at Netflix. The video streaming service and Treehouse Pictures are bringing together Zoey Deutch, Glen Powell and writer/producer Katie Silberman in a new romantic comedy. The rom-com is currently going by the title “Most Dangerous Game,” though that might change before the project releases. The film is expected to go into production in early 2020 and could be ready for subscribers in 2021.
Deutch will be featured in Ryan Murphy’s “The Politician,” which is also a Netflix project, expected to launch in September. Fans of Deutch will also see her in “Zombieland 2,” which is from Sony Pictures, and set to release in October. Deutch produced the film “Buffaloed,” which recently premiered at the 2019 Tribeca Film Festival.
Powell is currently filming the Jerry Bruckheimer and Paramount Pictures’ film “Top Gun: Maverick.” The highly anticipated sequel stars Tom Cruise and Jennifer Connelly and is set to release in the Summer of 2020.
As for the new rom-com, Juliet Berman, Justin Nappi, and Katie Silberman are serving as producers, with Deutch and Powell serving as executive producers. Netflix stopped short of announcing a premiere date for the movie, but if you’re a Deutch fan, you can keep the project on your radar.
In the announcement, Nappi added, “The pairing of Zoey and Glen’s undeniable spark with Katie’s razor sharp dialogue was such an important factor in the success of Set It Up and we cannot wait to build on that even more with Most Dangerous Game. While it was clear that audiences were clamoring for a sequel, we are excited by the thought of creating a new, distinct film that explores different romantic comedy tropes while still being anchored in everything that we loved about the first movie.”
