Paramount Pictures released a first-look trailer for “Sonic the Hedgehog” on Tuesday morning. The live-action and CG hybrid is hitting theaters in November and features Jim Carrey as the evil Dr. Robotnik. This is the first official trailer that Paramount Pictures released for the film, but leaked images of Sonic and of Dr. Robotnik have been circulating across the internet for a few weeks now. Joining Carrey in the adventure are James Mardsen, Ben Schwartz, Tika Sumpter, Natasha Rothwell, Neal McDonough, and Adam Pally.

On social media, the studio describes the film, “Sonic the Hedgehog is a live-action adventure comedy based on the global blockbuster videogame franchise from Sega that centers on the infamously brash bright blue hedgehog. The film follows the (mis)adventures of Sonic as he navigates the complexities of life on Earth with his newfound – human – best friend Tom Wachowski (James Marsden). Sonic and Tom join forces to try and stop the villainous Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) from capturing Sonic and using his immense powers for world domination.”

The film also stars Tika Sumpter and Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic.

Jeff Fowler directed the film for Paramount Pictures, working on a screenplay by Patrick Casey, Josh Miller and Oren Uziel. Hajime Satomi, Haruki Satomi, Masanao Maeda, Toby Ascher, Nan Morales and Tim Miller serve as executive producers on the film, with Neal H. Moritz, Toru Nakahara, and Takeshi Ito working as producers.

Sonic isn’t the only video-game character hitting theaters soon, “Detective Pikachu” is opening nationwide on May 10th. Rob Letterman directed that film for Warner Bros. Pictures, and the movie features Ryan Reynolds and Ken Watanabe.

“Sonic the Hedgehog” is racing into theaters this November.
