Netflix dropped a new trailer for “The Society,” a new YA thriller series hitting the platform in May. Filmed outside of Boston, the first season has ten one-hour episodes and features Rachel Keller (Cassandra), Kathryn Newton (Allie), Alex Fitzalan (Harry), Kristine Froseth (Kelly), Jacques Colimon (Will), Sean Berdy (Sam), Toby Wallace (Campbell), Gideon Adlon (Becca), Olivia DeJonge (Elle), Alex MacNicoll (Luke), Natasha Liu Bordizzo (Helena), Jose Julian (Gordie), Salena Qureshi (Bean), Jack Mulhern (Grizz), and Grace Victoria Cox (Lexie).

If you missed the first teaser trailer that Netflix released earlier this month, “The Society” follows a group of teenagers who are mysteriously transported to a facsimile of their wealthy New England town without any trace of their parents.

Netflix teases the story adding, “Their newfound freedom will be fun… but it will also be very dangerous. As they struggle to figure out what has happened to them and how to get home, they must establish order and form alliances if they want to survive.” With hits like “Stranger Things” launching into the stratosphere of pop-culture, you can see why Netflix is also on the lookout for a new story of troubled teens, mixed with a little sci-fi mystery.

Fans of YA thrillers can watch the new trailer below.

If you want to set a reminder, you can catch “The Society: Season 1” on May 10, 2019. Chris Keyser is the showrunner for the first season, with Marc Webb and Chris Keyser serving as executive producers.

We won’t complain about a new show to stream in May. The series might also be the perfect appetizer for “Stranger Things,” which is coming back with an all-new season on July 4, 2019. Either way there will be plenty of sci-fi mysteries to stream on the small-screen, with plenty of horror-thrillers set to watch on the big screen, this summer may not be too bad after all.
