Spring has sprung in Taylor Swift’s world. The pop icon released her new “Me!” music-video this week, filled with screen popping pastels and co-starring Brendon Urie of Panic! At The Disco. The release is a double-dipped treat for Taylor Swift fans, not only do they get a new single, but they also get the music-video on the same day.
The song is a return to form for Swift, in the new track she’s leaving behind her snakes and remixed beats and repackaging her pop-country roots. The video features a faux-argument between Swift and Urie, until Swift storms out in a vibrant display of self acknowledgments and affirmations.
“ME!” has been teased for weeks on Swift’s social media. The pop star gave fans a release date earlier this month and has been counting down the days with selected imagery like hearts and sequence leading up to today’s 0music video. It was all worth the wait, and fans can watch the official music video below.
Swift recently appeared at the TIME 100 Gala. Not only did Swift attend the event, but she also performed for the crowd. One of the final teases was in Nashville, TN, where Swift posed for pictures and met with fans in front of a giant mural of a butterfly with “ME!” splattered across it.
The song is the first release from Swift since her 2017 ultra-hit record “Reputation.” That album featured the songs “…Ready For It?” and “Look What You Made Me Do”, which again, had a lot more vengeance, snakes, and anger than this song does.
Taylor Swift fans will also see her in Universal Pictures’ “CATS” adaptation. Swift joins Idris Elba, Rebel Wilson, Ian McKellen, James Corden, Judi Dench, Jennifer Hudson, Robert Fairchild, Jason Derulo, and Francesca Hayward in the production.
