Nintendo surprised fans with a quick update on the “Super Mario Maker” franchise, announcing a new sequel that is releasing later this summer. “Super Mario Maker 2” is scheduled to debut, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch, on June 28th.
The new title should be a perfect distraction while traveling this summer, or during TV’s monotonous schedule of reality and game shows. Since you can take the Nintendo Switch with you wherever you go, it should help you get through any boring situation you find yourself in over the summer months.
Fans of the franchise can order the Nintendo Switch version and have it ready for release day right here on Amazon.
In the announcement released on Wednesday afternoon, Nintendo stated, “This full-fledged sequel to the original groundbreaking Super Mario Maker game for the Wii U system lets your imagination run wild as you make and play your own Super Mario courses using new tools, items and features.” The company added, “With an incredibly intuitive toolset ready to be explored and experimented with, including the new ability to create slopes for the first time, nearly anything is possible in Super Mario Maker 2.”
The original “Super Mario Maker” was an instant hit with players. The initial installment in the franchise launched back in 2015 on the Nintendo Wii U and videos of player-created levels still live on the internet to this day.
Nintendo stopped short of releasing a trailer for the new game, but now that the cat is out of the bag, a few previews and teasers will most likely be released over the next few weeks. The good news is that the release date is only two months away, so you won’t have to wait that long to start building your own levels and challenging your friends on the go.
