Hulu’s “Veronica Mars” series is coming back with an all-new mysteries to solve. The video-streaming platform confirmed the premiere dates for the sleuth series on Friday afternoon, along with Mindy Kaling’s “Four Weddings and a Funeral” adaptation. The shows will hit Hulu just as broadcast television networks switch over to their summer schedules, which is mostly filled with reality shows and dating competitions.
“Four Weddings and a Funeral” and “Veronica Mars” are now set to debut in July according to the company. “Veronica Mars” will be the first series to launch on the platform, set to premiere on July 26th. Hulu teased fans with an official teaser for the show’s return, which you can watch below. Hulu hyped up the release on social-media adding, “She has no patience for flashers or street scum.”
“Veronica Mars” will once again star Kristen Bell, this time her character is taking on a case involving the murder of a young boy. Enrico Colantoni, Jason Dohring, Percy Daggs III, Francis Capra, and Ryan Hansen, stars of the original “Veronica Mars” series, are joining Bell in the show. The cast will also include Patten Oswalt, J.K. Simmons, and Kirby Howell-Baptiste.
As for Mindy Kaling’s “Four Weddings and a Funeral,” that show will debut shortly after “Veronica Mars” on July 31st. Richard Curtis wrote the original film script that the show is based on, and returns to the franchise as an executive producer. We will have to wait a little longer to get a preview trailer for “Four Weddings and a Funeral,” but with the summer months approaching fast, we probably won’t be waiting very long.
The original “Veronica Mars” was created by Rob Thomas, and premiered in 2004. The show ran for three seasons and helped launch Kristen Bell’s movie career. “Four Weddings and a Funeral” was one of many Hugh Grant rom-coms in the 90s. The original film became an instant classic and paired Hugh Grant with Andie MacDowell.
