YouTube’s Coachella Plans Include Childish Gambino and BlackPink
YouTube will once again provide multiple live streams for Coachella, allowing viewers from all around the world to watch the show without the need for sunscreen. The video streaming service will be live on both weekend’s this year, with special performances from BlackPink, Childish Gambino, and Rihanna.
Streamers will be able to catch Childish Gambino, Ariana Grande, Tame Impala, Kacey Musgraves, Billie Eilish, BLACKPINK, Juice WRLD, Kid Cudi, Wiz Khalifa, Gryffin, Maggie Rogers, Chvrches Little Zimz, Cola Boyy and many more on any device that supports YouTube. The company is also using the opportunity to promote YouTube Music, which will have audio-only versions of the event so you can workout or relax to the show without killing your data plan with video streams.
The first-weekend live stream will run from April 12th through April 14th and will be available on the Coachella YouTube Channel. YouTube also announced that viewers will get a “one-time premiere of the new Childish Gambino film, “Guava Island,” featuring Rihanna.” Through YouTube, viewers can choose between three live stream feeds with different artists performing simultaneously. YouTube users can also make personalized viewing schedules, these feeds will automatically change to the artists you have selected, so you won’t miss anyone. YouTube also stated that highlights from the weekend will be available through a video-on-demand hub, with co-hosts Nadeska Alexis, Valerie Lee, and special guests.
On the second weekend, YouTube will offer original content, encore and live performances, artist commentary, mini-docs, animated adventures and more. There will also be streams of live music, and the same features that we mentioned earlier.
In a special presentation, YouTube will broadcast the festival to a live stream on New York City’s Times Square big screen. The company will also stream BLACKPINK’s highly anticipated performance on The Beast screen in Times Square at 11:50 p.m. ET on Friday, April 12, 2019.
