Select members of the cast and crew hit the red-carpet premiere of “Missing Link” this week to meet with fans and promote the new animated comedy from Annapurna Pictures. Hugh Jackman, Zoe Saldana, Zach Galifianakis, Timothy Olyphant, and Amrita Acharia were in attendance for the big event, along with writer and director Chris Butler.
The film will open against “Hellboy,” “After,” and the adult-comedy “Little” next weekend. Family-friendly animations have been in short supply, the last one to release was “Wonder Park” back in March. While teens decide between “Hellboy” and “After” at the box office, little ones will have a movie all their own to see next weekend.
The film follows Mr. Link, who is 8 feet tall, 630 lbs, and covered in fur. He’s one of the fuzziest and friendliest characters on the screen, and he lives a solitary life in the Pacific Northwest. In the story, Mr. Link recruits fearless explorer Sir Lionel Frost to guide him on a journey to find his long-lost relatives in the fabled valley of Shangri-La. Along with adventurer Adelina Fortnight, the fearless trio of explorers encounter more than their fair share of peril as they travel to the far reaches of the world to help their new friend.
Hugh Jackman, Zoe Saldana, Zach Galifianakis, Timothy Olyphant, Amrita Acharia, and Chris Butler discuss the film from the red carpet in the video below.
Outside of her “Guardians of the Galaxy” duties at Marvel, Zoe Saldana will reprise her role of Neytiri in four new Avatar films, set to debut between 2020 and 2025. Timothy Olyphant is starring with Drew Barrymore in Netflix’s “Santa Clarita Diet,” and is featured in Quentin Tarantino’s “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” with Margot Robbie, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Brad Pitt. Fans of the show “Deadwood” can also see Olyphant in his role of Seth Bullock in the upcoming TV movie.
