Another trailer for CBS Films’ “Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark” released today, teasing the upcoming YA thriller set to debut this summer. Academy Award-winner Guillermo del Toro and director André Øvredal brought the adaptation to the big screen, which stars Zoe Colletti, Michael Garza, Gabriel Rush, Austin Abrams, Dean Norris, Gil Bellows, Lorraine Toussaint, Austin Zajur, and Natalie Ganzhorn. The film is based on the book series of the same name.

“Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark” focuses on a group of young teens as they try and figure out what is behind the mysterious deaths in their small town.

The film is scheduled to hit theaters on August 9th, which is already a busy weekend at the box office. Disney is releasing the adaptation of “Artemis Fowl” that weekend, and A24 is releasing the adult-thriller “Midsommar” with Florence Pugh, Jack Reynor, and Will Poulter. The other films set to release that weekend include “Brian Banks,” “The Kitchen,” and “Where’d You Go, Bernadette.”

The weekends before and after are just crowded, “Dora and the Lost City of Gold” and “Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw” are releasing one week before “Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark,” with “47 Meters Down: Uncaged,” “The Angry Birds Movie 2,” “Good Boys,” and “The Informer” releasing the week after. It will be a battle royal at the box office in almost every genre.

Fans of the YA thriller genre can watch the latest trailer below.

One of the biggest that Guillermo del Toro has in the works is the “Pinocchio” adaptation for Netflix. A longtime passion project of Guillermo del Toro, the film will be a dark telling of the famous Pinocchio story. Del Toro will both write and co-direct the “Pinocchio” adaptation for Netflix, but we don’t have a premiere date at this time.
