‘Uglydolls’ Offers Fans One Last Trailer Before the Premiere
There’s one last trailer to watch before “Uglydolls” hits theaters nationwide. STXfilm’s dropped a new video on Thursday afternoon, giving Uglydoll fans another preview of the film before the big premiere. The new animated musical features the voices of Kelly Clarkson, Nick Jonas, Janelle Monáe, Blake Shelton, and Pitbull. The film also features Wanda Sykes, Gabriel Iglesias, Wang Leehom, Emma Roberts, Bebe Rexha, Charli XCX, and Lizzo.
The story starts in the town of Uglyville, where weird is celebrated and strange is special. Viewers follow Moxy (Clarkson) and her UglyDoll friends who live every day as uniquely and as confident as possible. Things pick up when the UglyDolls go on a journey beyond the borders of Uglyville. Once outside their beloved home, they learn what it means to be different, and the group of friends struggles with their desire to be loved and ultimately discover that you don’t have to be perfect to be amazing.
The film is inspired by the global plush toys that launched in 2001, and the movie will feature all-new original songs from the cast of popstars.
“Uglydolls” won’t have too much competition on its opening weekend this Spring. The film is hitting theaters against Dennis Quaid’s thriller “The Intruder” and the Charlize Theron and Seth Rogen comedy “The Long Shot.” The big competition for “Uglydolls” will be the following week when Warner Bros. Pictures releases “Detective Pikachu” in theaters nationwide. The following weekend is the release of “A Dog’s Journey,” and Disney will release the live-action “Aladdin” at the end of the month. May will be a busy month for family-friendly films, and it will be interesting to see which of the four major releases comes out on top.
“Uglydolls” is directed by Kelly Asbury and will be released in theaters on May 3, 2019.
