The horror-thriller sequel Happy Death Day 2 now has a digital release date. Universal Pictures and Blumhouse will release “Happy Death Day 2U” on Digital HD on April 30th, followed by the Blu-ray and DVD version on May 14th. The film will give thriller fans something to stream this spring, when family-friendly movies tend to crowd the box office.

You can order the Digital version on iTunes and Prime Video and have it ready for release day. If you would like the retail version, you can find it right here on Amazon.

Christopher B. Landon wrote and directed the sequel for Universal Pictures. The film stars Jessica Rothe and was produced by Jason Blum. “Happy Death Day 2U” hit theaters during a crowded box office back in February 2018. The sequel made $9.4M on opening weekend against “Alita: Battle Angel,” “Isn’t it Romantic,” and “Fighting with my Family.” The movie went on to make over $64M for the studio worldwide, not bad for a film with an estimated budget of $9M.

In the film, Tree Gelbman (Jessica Rothe) discovers that dying over and over to find her killer was nothing compared to the surprising dangers that lie ahead. Gelbman has to survive once again, this time with even more twists.

The original “Happy Death Day” released in 2017. That film also starred Jessica Rothe and made $26M on opening weekend. The original installment did better worldwide, grossing over $125M at the box office.

Fans of Jessica Rothe will see her in the new “Valley Girl” remake. Rothe is playing the role of Julie Richman in the film, starring alongside Mae Whitman, Chloe Bennet, Peyton List, Jessie Ennis, Ashleigh Murray, and Logan Paul. The original “Valley Girl” opened in 1983 and starred Nicolas Cage, Deborah Foreman, and Elizabeth Daily.
