Sony Pictures released an official trailer for “The Angry Birds Movie 2” on Wednesday morning, teasing a new enemy and a lot of colorful characters. The animated-comedy is set to release this summer, and fans of the furious birds can watch the new trailer below.
The voice cast for the sequel includes new and returning favorites. Voicing characters in the film are Jason Sudeikis, Josh Gad, Leslie Jones, Bill Hader, Rachel Bloom, Awkwafina, Sterling K. Brown, Eugenio Derbez, Danny McBride, Peter Dinklage, Zach Woods, Dove Cameron, Lil Rel Howery, Beck Bennett, Nicki Minaj, and Brooklynn Prince.
Thurop Van Orman directed the film for Sony Pictures, working from a screenplay written by Peter Ackerman.
The original “Angry Birds” movie released back in 2016 and was an instant hit for the studio. Clay Kaytis and Fergal Reilly directed that animated-comedy for Sony Pictures, which made over $38M on its opening weekend before grossing over $352M worldwide.
Sony Pictures teased the trailer on social media telling followers, “🐦 + 🐷 = 😳🤯! Enemies Become Frenemies,” which is basically the summary of the plot.
If you want to set a reminder, “The Angry Birds Movie 2” is expected to debut on August 16th.
August will host several big family-films this year. “Dora and the Lost City of Gold” is starting the month on August 2nd, opening against “Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw” with Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Idris Elba, and Eddie Marsan. The following weekend Disney is releasing the “Artemis Fowl” adaptation with Josh Gad and Judi Dench. That’s the same weekend that Lionsgate is releasing the YA thriller “Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark.”
