The Final Fantasy XIV Festival in Japan is wrapping up, and Square Enix had plenty of reveals ready for the 15,000 attendees that came out to celebrate the popular game. Players around the world heard about the upcoming third expansion, called Shadowbringers, that will take players to the First World and the realm of Norvrandt.

The new expansion will take players, for the first time, across dimensions and into a land similar, yet different from the one they know. Here they must become Warriors of Darkness to restore night and save the world from the apocalypse the Flood of Light promises.

During the event’s keynote, Producer and Director Naoki Yoshida announced numerous new features and additions to the game. One of the biggest announcements was the new job Dancer, which many people thought would be a healer. Dancer joins gunbreaker as one of the new jobs in Shadowbringers but it will be a DPS job. This ranged attacker not only unleashes powerful attacks using throwing weapons, but also performs dances to execute abilities and provide beneficial effects to their party.

Yoshida also announced the new race Hrothgar, which will be an all-male race to complement the all-female race of the Vera. The Hrothgar and Viera will both have unique, customizable features specific to their races. The Crystarium and Eulmore are the new cities in the game, located in Norvrandt. Crystarium is a player hub, while Eulmore is an affluent city ruled by the elite. The publisher explained that Eulmore will play a key role in the Shadowbringers main storyline.

If you’re looking for a new raid, you’ll want to hit Eden. This new high-end raid content will feature multiple challenging bosses, as well as a new character, and both are designed specifically for this raid series by Kingdom Hearts Director and FINAL FANTASY series veteran, Tetsuya Nomura. It was announced that “Gaia” will appear in the Eden Raid Series. You can also look forward to the bearded dwarves beast tribe, and the ”sin eater,” Innocence.

The reveal of the complete Shadowbringers trailer presents a deeper look at the expansion’s setting.

These features add to the list of exciting previously announced content, including a level cap increase to level 80, the Trust system—which provides a new opportunity for solo play, a new 24-player alliance raid series entitled “YoRHa: Dark Apocalypse”, New Game+, and end-game content for crafters and gatherers which sees the Restoration of the Holy See of Ishgard.

The Final Fantasy XIV collaboration scheduled for release on April 16 will feature hero Noctis Lucis Caelum visiting the realm of Eorzea for his latest journey. Final Fantasy XIV Online players who complete the collaboration content will obtain a number of Final Fantasy XIV-themed rewards, including Noctis’s hairstyle and outfit, as well as a chance to receive the first-ever four-person mount: the Regalia.

Zenos yae Galvus of Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood will be joining the roster of DISSIDIA FINAL FANTASY NT. The third major expansion, Shadowbringers will release on July 2, 2019. Patch 4.56, which will bring with it the climactic finish to the Stormblood main storyline is scheduled for release tomorrow, March 26.
