Netflix has set a premiere date for Ryan Murphy’s next big television project titled “The Politician.” Netflix will release the first season on September 27th, and the company confirmed the extended cast in the announcement.
In the story, Payton Hobart (Ben Platt) is a wealthy student from Santa Barbara, California. Hobart has known since age seven that he’s going to be President of the United States. To get there, he’ll have to navigate the most treacherous political landscape of all: Saint Sebastian High School. To get elected as the Student Body President, secure a spot at Harvard, and stay on his singular path to success, Payton will have to outsmart his ruthless classmates without sacrificing his own morality and carefully crafted image.
Netflix teased the series in the announcement adding, “Full of dark comedy and sly satire, Ryan Murphy’s The Politician offers a rare glimpse into just what it takes to make a politician.”
The series regulars for the first season include Ben Platt, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jessica Lange, Zoey Deutch, Lucy Boynton, Bob Balaban, David Corenswet, Julia Schlaepfer, Laura Dreyfuss, Theo Germaine, Rahne Jones, and Benjamin Barrett.
Netflix didn’t release a trailer for the new series, so Murphy fans will have to wait a little longer to get a preview of the new show.
Ryan Murphy is an Emmy, Golden Globe, and Peabody Award-winning producer, director, and writer. He signed with Netflix back in February 2018, picking up a five-year deal with the platform. Murphy’s “Ratched” and “The Politician” are already on the way to Netflix, and fans should have plenty of content to stream even after those make their debut. Murphy has been the powerhouse behind shows like “NIP/TUK,” “American Crime Story,” “American Horror Story,” “Feud,” and “9-1-1.”
Netflix subscribers can set a reminder to watch “The Politician” on September 27, 2019.
