Netflix is putting together a new film called “Desperados,” and the company confirmed the leads this week. Netflix announced that Nasim Pedrad (Aladdin, SNL), Jason Mitchell (Mudbound, The Chi), Anna Camp (Pitch Perfect, The Wedding Year), and Robbie Amell (When We First Met, The Babysitter) are starring in the film, but we don’t have a premiere date at this time. Ellen Rapoport is writing the script for the film.

Netflix also released the logline early today: “A panicked young woman, with her reluctant friends in tow, rushes to Mexico to try and delete a ranting email she sent to her new boyfriend.”

Mason Novick (MXN Entertainment), John Finemore (Lost City) and Good Universe are serving as producers, with James Hope and Elizabeth Grave (Lost City) serving as executive producers on the project.

Nasim Pedrad is also working on a TV movie called “Chad,” that she created. The story follows a teenage Persian boy who tries to fit in with his peers while struggling with his cultural identity. Anna Camp was already on a hit Netflix project, “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt,” playing the role of Deirdre Robespierre. Camp is also starring in Michael Showalter’s “The Lovebirds” with Kumail Nanjiani, and in Tim True’s drama “Here Awhile” with Steven Strait and Joe Lo Truglio.

Fans of “The Chi” know Jason Mitchell best as Brandon Johnson, that series was an instant hit when it debuted in 2018. Mitchell also had a role in the Sundance Film Festival hit “The Mustang,” which just hit select theaters this weekend. Johnson will also appear in the drama “Zola” from director Janicza Bravo. That film will also feature Riley Keough and Nicholas Braun.

Netflix hasn’t set a premiere date yet for “Desperados,” but we should get a launch window and a few teasers over the next few months.
