Warner Bros. Pictures has started teasing the next “Annabelle” installment. The studio released a teaser trailer this afternoon, reminding fans that the new movie is coming out on June 28th.

Other than the words “Annabelle Comes Home” and the premiere date, the video doesn’t offer any other facts. The film went into production back in October 2018, and it will be the third installment of New Line Cinema’s successful franchise. The film will feature the same sinister doll that appeared in the “Conjuring” universe, and will scare audiences a little later than expected.

The movie will be screenwriter Gary Dauberman’s (“The Nun,” “IT” films, “Annabelle” films) first feature as a director. The franchise itself has made over $1.5B around the world. James Wan created the “Conjuring” universe for Warner Bros. Pictures and New Line Cinema, and serves as producer on this project. Dauberman also wrote the screenplay from a story he co-wrote with Wan.

The studio teased the film last year stating “Determined to keep Annabelle from wreaking more havoc, demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren bring the possessed doll to the locked artifacts room in their home, placing her “safely” behind sacred glass and enlisting a priest’s holy blessing.”

The story picks up when Annabelle awakens the evil spirits in the room, who all set their sights on Warrens’ ten-year-old daughter, Judy, and her friends.

The new Annabelle film stars McKenna Grace (TV’s “The Haunting of Hill House,” “Gifted,” “Captain Marvel”) as Judy; Madison Iseman (“Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle,” “Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween”) as her babysitter, Mary Ellen; and Katie Sarife (TV’s “Youth and Consequences”, “Supernatural”) as troubled friend Daniela.

Reprising their roles in the franchise are Patrick Wilson (“The Conjuring,” “Insidious” films, “Aquaman”) and Vera Farmiga (“The Conjuring” films, upcoming “Godzilla: King of the Monsters,” TV’s “Bates Motel”) as Ed and Lorraine Warren.

Horror-thriller fans have “The Curse of La Llorona” to look forward to on April 19, 2019. Initially planned for July 3, 2019, the new “Annabelle” film will now be released on June 28th.

The original premiere date had the film opening against “Dark Phoenix,” “Late Night,” and “The Secret Life of Pets 2.” Now the film has a more open weekend, hitting theaters against the comedy “Yesterday.” “Annabelle 3” will open one week after the “Child’s Play” reboot and “Toy Story 4,” which could split the box office.
