Tuca & Bertie + Slantednetflix

Netflix is gearing up to release the first season of “Tuca & Bertie,” a new animated series coming to the platform from the team behind Netflix’s other hit animated series: “Bojack Horseman.” The animated comedy is coming to Netflix on May 3, so you already have at least one series to binge through during the summer’s TV doldrums. Fans of the genre can watch the new trailer below, thanks to an early morning upload from Netflix.

Just like BoJack Horseman, the series will feature a long list of guest stars, and the list already has Nicole Byer, Richard E. Grant, John Early, Reggie Watts, Tig Notaro, Amber Ruffin, Jermaine Fowler, and Tessa Thompson. Starring alongside Tiffany Haddish and Ali Wong in the show is Steven Yeun.

If this is your first time hearing about Tuca & Bertie, the show is an animated comedy series about the friendship between two 30-year-old bird-women who live in the same apartment building. The story follows Tuca (Tiffany Haddish), a cocky, care-free toucan, and Bertie (Ali Wong), an anxious, daydreaming songbird.

Lisa Hanawalt (BoJack Horseman) created the series, which consists of 10-episodes for its first season. Netflix released a first-look trailer for the series earlier today on social media, and fans of the genre can watch the teaser below.

As you can see in the trailer, the show carries over the same animated style that was made popular in the BoJack Horseman series. Hanawalt is an executive producer alongside Raphael Bob-Waksberg (BoJack Horseman), Noel Bright (BoJack Horseman, Friends), Steven A. Cohen (BoJack Horseman, Jack & Bobby), Tiffany Haddish and Ali Wong. The series is produced by Michael Eisner’s The Tornante Company and animation is done by ShadowMachine.

If you want to set a reminder, you can catch the adventures of “Tuca & Birtie” on Netflix starting on May 3, 2019. There will probably be a few more teasers before Netflix finally releases the show in May.
