While most of Corsair’s peripherals come outfitted with RGB lighting and high-contrast accents, the Corsair K83 Wireless Entertainment Keyboard is sleek and minimal. The new keyboard hopes to control your Smart TV, Steam Link, or gaming device from the couch and offers low-profile keys, a trackpad, and media control keys.
The keyboard’s design is very similar to the Logitech Craft, one of my favorite keyboards ever created, which offers a customizable dial that can be configured on a per-app basis. The K83 is constructed with an aluminum base and designed for the tech-savvy couch potato. The keys come equipped with white LED backlights, so you won’t have to turn on the lights when you’re watching movies in the dark. The media control keys let you handle simple commands like volume changing, scrolling, skipping, pausing a video, and more.
The keyboard can also handle some gameplay activity, thanks to the analogue joystick and shoulder buttons. Not only can this be used to navigate menus and apps, but you can also use the familiar WASD keys and the controller to play some games. The multi-touch touchpad is also paired with dedicated right/left click buttons. Users will also find separate left and right click buttons on the keyboard’s shoulders.
The wireless connection is through USB, offering ultra-fast 1ms 2.4GHz wireless speed, using 128-bit AES wireless encryption to protect your personal data. If the device you’re hoping to control doesn’t have a USB port, you can also connect via low-latency Bluetooth wireless. A USB-rechargeable battery powers the K83 Wireless, providing up to 40 hours of continuous use according to the company.
You will set up most of the keys and customizable options through the CORSAIR iCUE software. In the program, users can recalibrate the joystick, create macros and remap keys, adjust the LED backlighting, and configure Windows touchpad gestures.
The CORSAIR K83 Wireless Entertainment Keyboard is available immediately from the CORSAIR and at authorized retailers, you can find it right here on Amazon.
