Gina Rodriguez stars in a new romantic-comedy on Netflix called “Someone Great,” and now there’s an official trailer for the film. In the story, aspiring music journalist Jenny (Gina Rodriguez) lands her dream job and will eventually head out to San Francisco to start her new career. At this time, her boyfriend of nine years (Lakeith Stanfield) breaks off their relationship, unwilling to follow Jenny or stay with her while she lives on the other side of the country. Helping her through the breakup and prepping for the big move, Jenny’s two best friends Erin (DeWanda Wise) and Blair (Brittany Snow) go on one last adventure in New York City.

The series comes from writer/director Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (creator of MTV’s Sweet/Vicious). “Someone Great” is currently scheduled to hit Netflix on April 19th. Fans of the actor can watch the official trailer below.

When the trailer dropped, Jennifer Kaytin took to Twitter to share the video with her followers adding, “I always wanted to see a romantic comedy where a woman chooses herself. So I made one.”

Outside of her iconic Jane Villanueva role on “Jane the Virgin,” Rodriguez has been busy on several projects. Rodriguez is starring in a live-action adaptation of Carmen Sandiego on Netflix and will voice the role of Velma Dinkley in a new Scooby Doo film. The actor also voices the role of Gina Alvarez on Netflix’s hit adult-animation comedy “Big Mouth,” and recently starred in “Miss Bala” for Sony Pictures. Catherine Hardwicke directed “Miss Bala” for the studio, which made $6.8M on opening weekend before grossing $15M worldwide.

The “Someone Great” trailer was released after Netflix announced the cast for “The Stranger” adaptation, scheduled to start filming later this Spring. That project is an adaptation of Harlan Coben’s thriller of the same name, and will feature Siobhan Finneran (Downton Abbey), Hannah John-Kamen (Ant-Man and the Wasp), Jennifer Saunders (Absolutely Fabulous), Anthony Head (Buffy), Stephen Rea (Greta), and Richard Armitage (North and South).
