The first official trailer for HBO’s “Game of Thrones: Season 8” was released today, starting the countdown to the premiere of the final season. The network has been teasing the new episodes for over a year now, but the show finally has a Season 8 trailer, and fans can start hunting for clues and putting together their theories.

The new season will most likely come to a close with a showdown between the Night King and the realms of Westeros. The final season of “Game of Thrones” will only have six episodes, but the network has been teasing the battle scenes for months at this point. Fans on social-media seem excited to finally see the conclusion of the fantasy drama, and finally, learn who will sit on the Iron Throne after the dust settles.

If you want to set a reminder, the first episode of the final season will premiere on HBO on April 14th.

HBO is also working on a prequel series to “Game of Thrones,” the show will be directed by S.J. Clarkson and feature Naomi Ackie, Denise Gough, Jamie Campbell Bower, Sheila Atim, Ivanno Jeremiah, Georgie Henley, Alex Sharp, and Toby Regbo.

According to earlier reports, Jane Goldman will write the screenplay for the new spinoff series, but we don’t have a premiere date at this time. The network has not made any official announcements on the plot or setting of the new show, only that the new story will take place long before the events of the current series.

Now would be a good time to check on that HBO Go account of yours to make sure you’re ready for the premiere. You can also take a moment to start blacklisting Game of Thrones words from your social media feeds so that you can be ahead of the spoilers.
