Netflix Teases ‘Ultraman’ With an Official Trailer
Back in July 2018, Netflix announced an impressive slate of new Anime series and films at the Netflix Loves Anime panel at the annual Anime Expo event. One of those announcements was for the iconic “Ultraman,” which now has an official trailer.
The new “Ultraman” event is the latest adaptation of the story, based on the franchise that started back in the 1960s. The animated event is scheduled to go live on April 1st, only on Netflix. The video-streaming service described the story on social-media adding, “Years ago, the famous giant of light Ultraman worked to protect peace on Earth. Now, a new champion arises: Shinjiro Hayata, a high-school student who must don the Ultra Suit and the worries that come with it.” Netflix added, “The son of the former Ultraman, he will become this generation’s new hero!”
Netflix has launched or will launch, a wide array of other anime series on the service as well. These include “Dragon Pilot;” new “Castlevania” episodes; new “Aggretsuko” episodes; “Kengan Ashura;” “Godzilla” content; “Cannon Busters” and more. Anime fans can set a reminder to catch “Ultraman” when he flies onto Netflix on April 1st.
Animation fans can look forward to an adaptation of “The Old Guard” on Netflix. The video-streaming service announced that Gina Prince-Bythewood (Love & Basketball, Beyond The Lights) will direct the film, which is based on the comic book series created by author Greg Rucka and illustrator Leandro Fernández. Charlize Theron (Tully, Atomic Blonde) and KiKi Layne (If Beale Street Could Talk, Native Son) are already attached to the project.
“The Old Guard” tells the story of a small covert group of immortal mercenaries who must fight to keep their team together when they discover the existence of a new immortal and their extraordinary abilities are exposed.
