Disney is finally giving Della Duck an official introduction to the “DuckTales” gang this weekend. The character is making her first official “DuckTales” episode debut on March 9th, and fans of the show can watch a trailer for the new episode below.

For the Della Duck historians out there, the character made her first-ever animated onscreen appearance in “DuckTales” season one, but she was mentioned in a Donald Duck newspaper comic strip and animated short film in the late 1930s. Della is a fearless pilot and explorer, and she was part of the original crew alongside Donald and Scrooge.

Actress Paget Brewster has originated the voice role for Della Duck, who is the twin sister of Donald Duck and long-lost mother to Huey, Dewey, and Louie. As we mentioned earler, the character was mentioned in episodes in the past, but just barely, and most of the story behind her disappearance has been kept under wraps. Disney Channel is going to change all that, and Della Duck is getting her own story in the new episode.

We learned more about Della Duck during the big Season 1 finale, when the boys discovered the truth behind their mother’s disappearance. The boys learned that in the past, Della took Scrooge’s secret rocket ship and got caught in a cosmic storm. Della Duck was lost and in space and never heard from again. The March 9th episode is part of Season 2, and it’s going by the title “What Ever Happened to Della Duck?!” In the story, Della struggles for survival against the dangerous elements of the Moon as she looks for a way to get back to her family on Earth.

“DuckTales” follows the adventures of Duckburg’s most popular trillionaire Scrooge McDuck, his nephews, Huey, Dewey and Louie, Donald Duck, and the trusted McDuck Manor team. These characters include chauffer/pilot Launchpad McQuack, Mrs. Beakley, and Mrs. Beakley’s granddaughter, Webby Vanderquack. If you’re a fan of the show you can set a reminder to catch the new episode on March 9th.
