The mighty Shazam is back with another trailer. Warner Bros. Pictures released the second trailer for the film to get fans excited for the big April release, which is just around the corner at this point. David F. Sandberg (“Annabelle: Creation”) directed the film for the studio, which stars Zachary Levi, Djimon Hounsou, Meagan Good, Michelle Borth, Adam Brody, Asher Angel, and Mark Strong.

Zachary Levi is playing the titular DC Super Hero in the film, with Asher Angel as Billy Batson, and Mark Strong as the villain Dr. Thaddeus Sivana.

The story follows Billy Batson, a teenager that can become a superhero by shouting the magical word SHAZAM. The film is the latest installment to the DC Universe, which seems back on track with fans after “Aquaman” dominated the box office last year. “Shazam!” will be a little more lighthearted than previous DC Films, and is aimed at a younger audience. Henry Gayden wrote the screenplay for the project, which is based on a story by Gayden and Darren Lemke.

Sandberg’s team includes his “Annabelle: Creation” director of photography Maxime Alexandre; production designer Jennifer Spence; editor Michel Aller and costume designer Leah Butler. Peter Safran produced the film for Warner Bros. Pictures.

The big DC release will open in theaters against the “Pet Sematary” reboot, and “The Best of Enemies” with Taraji P. Henson, Sam Rockwell, and Anne Heche. That’s the same weekend that Bleecker Street is opening “Teen Spirit” in select theaters, that film stars Elle Fanning and Rebecca Hall.

The following weekend “Shazam!” will battle the “Hellboy” reboot with David Harbour, Milla Jovovich, and Ian McShane; and the animated-comedy “Missing Link” from Annapurna Pictures with the voice talents of Zach Galifianakis, Hugh Jackman, and Zoe Saldana.

“Shazam!” is set for release on April 5, 2019 through Warner Bros. Pictures.
