Amazon is making it a little easier to keep track of all the shipments being sent to your house, while also helping the planet. Prime members can now setup Amazon Day, a new service currently available to all Prime members in the United States.
The new delivery option allows Prime Members to choose a day of the week to be their designated delivery day, allowing them to grab all of their goodies at once, in just one shipment. This means breaking down fewer boxes, using less plastic, creating less waste, and having more options at checkout.
Not only will this cut down on packaging, but you can designate a day that you know you’ll be home to avoid lost or stolen packages. Amazon Day options is beneficial to both the consumer and Amazon since the company will be shipping fewer packages in total. One of the best features is that it cuts down on waste and cardboard boxes, which is also good for the planet. The new service is one step in Amazon’s plan to achieve Shipment Zero, the company’s vision to make all Amazon shipments net zero carbon, with 50% of all shipments net zero by 2030.
The setup is straight forward and always flexible. Prime members select a day of the week to be there Amazon Day, and all the items ordered that week arrive together on the designated day in one simple shipment. You can still choose another shipping option at checkout if you don’t want to wait until your Amazon Day. Prime Members that sign up for Amazon day will still have access to free two-day shipping, one-day shipping, and same-day shipping on all of the same products as before. You can also change your Amazon Day at any time.
“Amazon Day adds another level of convenience to the many shipping benefits Prime members already enjoy. Prime members can now choose to get their orders delivered together in fewer boxes whenever possible on the day that works best for them,” said Maria Renz, Vice President, Delivery Experience at Amazon. “We’ve been testing this program with a group of Prime members and Amazon Day has already reduced packaging by tens of thousands of boxes – a number that will only continue to grow now that the program is available to Prime members nationwide.”
