‘VICE’ Goes Digital in March
VICE is ready for the small screen
Annapurna Pictures has set a Digital release date for “VICE.” The Oscar-winning film will release on Digital HD on March 12th, followed by the Blu-ray and DVD release on April 2.
“VICE” picked up an Oscar win for Makeup and Hairstyling this year at the 91st Academy Awards. The film earned nominations for Best Picture, Best Actor, Actress in a Supporting Role, Actor in a Supporting Role, Best Director, Original Screenplay, and Film Editing. The film did well in theaters, opening with a $7.7M debut across 2,442 locations. Adam McKay directed the film, which stars Christian Bale, Amy Adams, Steve Carell, Sam Rockwell, Tyler Perry, Bill Pullman, and Alison Pill. “VICE” went on to make over $47.3M worldwide for the studio.
The film follows the story of a bureaucratic Washington insider, who quietly became the most powerful man in the world as Vice-President to George W. Bush.
“VICE” was produced by Megan Ellison, Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, Adam McKay, Will Ferrell, and Kevin Messick.
The March 12th release date is just a few days after “Captain Marvel” hits theaters nationwide. The big Marvel installment has scared away other studios from releasing films the week before and after, so the box office will be on the empty side while “Captain Marvel” soars. “VICE” will give you an Oscar-winning comedy-drama to watch during the doldrums at the box office, until things pick up again in late March. At the end of the month moviegoers can see the horror-thriller “US” from Jordan Peele, and the Disney live-action adaptation of “Dumbo.”
