Sony Pictures has set a Digital and Blu-ray release date for “A Dog’s Way Home.” The family-friendly hit will first release on Digital HD on March 26th, followed by the Blu-ray and DVD release on April 9th.
The film did well in theaters. “A Dog’s Way Home” debuted in third-place on the domestic charts behind “The Upside” and “Aquaman” with a $11.2M debut. The film went on to make over $63M worldwide for the studio and is the follow-up to the adaptation of “A Dog’s Purpose,” which opened with $18M before grossing over $205M in 2017.
Charles Martin Smith directed “A Dog’s Way Home” for Sony Pictures; the film is based on the novel by W. Bruce Cameron. Starring in the film are Ashley Judd, Jonah Hauer-King, Edward James Olmos, Alexandra Shipp, Chris Bauer, Barry Watson, Motell Foster, Wes Studi, and Bryce Dallas Howard.
In the story, a dog goes on a journey of over four hundred miles to find her owner throughout a Colorado wilderness.
There aren’t too many family-friendly movies hitting the home box office in March, so it’s nice to see Sony Pictures releasing this project in the early Spring. It will be nice to have digital options to deal with the bare box office over the next few weeks. With “Captain Marvel” hitting theaters on March 8th, most studios have decided not to challenge the film the week before, or after, the Marvel movie hits theaters. With a lack of choices at the cinema, at least you will have something to stream at home.
Sony Pictures’ “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” is already available on Digital HD. The Oscar-winning animated film will release on Blu-ray and DVD release on March 19th.
