The new “Captain Marvel” video offers a BTS talk with members of the cast and crew, discussing the intergalactic war between the Kree and the Skrulls. While our favorite Captain Marvel is fighting alongside the Kree, they will be battling the shapeshifting alien warriors called the Skrulls in the upcoming Marvel installment.
Marvel fans only have a few more weeks of waiting before Captain Marvel flies into theaters across the country. The film is one of the most highly-anticipated releases of 2019, and tickets for the big event are already on sale. If you need to set a reminder, “Captain Marvel” is scheduled to debut on March 8, 2019. In the film, Brie Larson plays the titular character, and the film features Samuel L. Jackson, Jude Law, Gemma Chan, Ben Mendelsohn, Clark Gregg, and Annette Bening. Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck directed the film for Marvel and has a shot at beating some box office records.
When it comes to solo releases within the Marvel Universe, the bar has been set pretty high. “Captain Marvel” will need to beat “Black Panther” to become the highest-grossing opening for a solo character within the MCU. “Black Panther” made over $202M on the film’s opening weekend. Robert Downey’s “Iron Man” had a $98M debut at the time of its release, and the “Guardians of the Galaxy” opened with $94M. “Doctor Strange” opened with $85M in 2016, and “Thor” opened with $65.7M over its opening weekend. “Captain America: The First Avenger” opened with $65M, and the 2003 version of “The Hulk” had a $62M opening. Marvel’s “Ant-Man’ opened with $57M during the film’s opening weekend.
