‘Mary Poppins Returns’ Goes Digital in March
Mary Poppins Returns gets a Digital release date
The magic and wonder of “https://theslanted.com/topic/disney/” will be ready to stream next month. Disney will first release “Mary Poppins Returns” on Digital HD and 4K on March 12th, followed by the retail versions in 4K UHD and Blu-ray on March 19th.
The film is based upon the Mary Poppins Stories by PL Travers and earned Academy Award nominations this year for best original song, best original score, best costume design, and best production design. We will know which awards the film takes home when the Academy Awards air on ABC on February 24th.
Academy Award winner Rob Marshall directed the film, which stars Emily Blunt as Mary Poppins; Lin-Manuel Miranda as Jack; Ben Whishaw as Michael Banks; and Emily Mortimer as Jane Banks. Colin Firth stars as William Weatherall Wilkins, alongside Meryl Streep as Cousin Topsy; and Dick Van Dyke as Mr. Dawes Jr.
The big sequel did well in theaters when it opened last December. “Mary Poppins Returns” opened against “Aquaman,” “Bumblebee,” “Second Act,” and “Welcome to Marwen” in one of the most crowded box office weekends of 2018. “Mary Poppins Returns” failed to top “Aquaman” during the film’s opening weekend but made over $23M during the film’s debut. The film went on to make over $170M domestically and over $342M worldwide for Disney.
Next up for Disney is “Captain Marvel,” which is flying into theaters on March 8th. Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck directed that film, which stars Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace, Mckenna Grace, Clark Gregg, and Jude Law.
