Netflix is bringing back “Alexa & Katie” for another season. The video-streaming service announced today that it has officially renewed the multi-cam comedy-drama for a third season, ordering 16 episodes new episodes. Netflix stopped short of announcing a premiere date for the third season, but we do know that the popular cast is returning and that the new season will be broken into two parts. Netflix will most likely announce the premiere date with a few teaser trailers, which will be released later this year.

If you haven’t jumped into “Alexa & Katie” yet, the series follows two lifelong best friends on their journey as they face not only the challenges of high school but also the lingering complexities of Alexa’s battle with cancer.

According to Netflix, season three will follow Paris Berelc (Alexa) and Isabel May (Katie) through their junior and senior years of high school as they learn that together, they can get through anything.

Longtime viewers can count on Tiffani Thiessen, Eddie Shin, Jolie Jenkins, Emery Kelly, Finn Carr, and Jack Griffo to return to their characters in the new season as well. Netflix also confirmed that series creator Heather Wordham would continue as executive producer. As we mentioned earlier, the third season of “Alexa & Katie” will launch in two parts featuring eight episodes each.

It has been a busy week at Netflix, with several big announcements and new series. The platform announced on social media this week that “The Kissing Booth 2” is entering into production, with stars Joey King, Joel Courtney, and Jacob Elordi reprising their roles for the sequel. Christina Milian and Adam Demos have been cast in a new rom-com movie called “Falling Inn Love” that is launching on Netflix later this year, and there will be a new holiday series called “Merry Happy Whatever” this season starring Dennis Quaid.
