After the big game on Sunday night, Disney released a new trailer for “Toy Story 4,” which is coming to theaters this summer. You’ll find a lot of your favorite characters in the new video, along with the return of Bo Peep. The toys look better than ever, and everyone should recognize the voices of the returning cast.
In this new installment to the long-running franchise, Woody has a hard time finding his place after Bonnie adds a reluctant new toy called “Forky” to her room. The film is a road trip adventure with old and new toys and the story show’s Woody “how big the world can be for a toy” according to Disney.
Josh Cooley (“Riley’s First Date?”) directed “Toy Story 4” and the film was produced by Jonas Rivera (“Inside Out,” “Up”) and Mark Nielsen (associate producer “Inside Out”).
The franchise has been going strong since “Toy Story” first hit theaters back in 1995. John Lasseter directed the first film, which had a $29M opening before making over $373M worldwide. To test the waters, “Toy Story 2” started with a limited-release before hitting theaters nationwide in 1999. The sequel’s nationwide debut brought in $57M for the studio, and the film went on to make $497M worldwide. Now “Toy Story” fever was everywhere, and “Toy Story 3” hit theaters in 2010 with a $110M opening weekend before making over $1B worldwide for Disney. Now that we have Marvel films hitting the $1B mark every few months that number isn’t quite as impressive as it once was, but back in 2010, it was rare. “Toy Story” fans young and old can watch the new video below.
If you need to set a reminder, Disney•Pixar’s “Toy Story 4” hits theaters on June 21, 2019.
