Netflix confirmed that a new Zack Snyder movie is coming to subscribers called “Army of the Dead.” Snyder is already very experienced in the zombie genre, having directed “Dawn of the Dead” as his first feature.

Snyder’s remake of the George A. Romero classic horror-thriller starred Sarah Polley, Ving Rhames, Jake Weber, and Mekhi Phifer. The success of the remake allowed Snyder to direct the movies “300,” “Watchmen,” and “Sucker Punch,” then onto DC films like “Man of Steel,” “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” and “Justice League.” Snyder continued with DC after leaving “Justic League” in post-production following a family tragedy, producing the film “Wonder Woman” and serving as an executive producer on the mega-hit “Aquaman.”

Netflix confirmed Snyder’s involvement on social media late Tuesday night, along with the title of the movie. According to reports, Joby Harold is writing the screenplay, and the story is based on one of Snyder’s originals.

The basic plot of “Army of the Dead” takes place in Las Vegas, it’s there that a group of outlaws are hoping to enter the quarantine zone and loot the place.

The new movie should start production later this year, and hopefully, we will get the film in 2019. Netflix stopped short of announcing a premiere window or the casting for the film at this time.

The news comes just a few days after Netflix announced the next Millarworld project “Reborn.” That adaptation of the comic will also be a feature film and is the latest project from Mark and Lucy Millar after Netflix acquired Millarworld in 2017. Netflix confirmed that Chris McKay (The Lego Batman Movie, Robot Chicken) will direct that movie.

“Reborn” is being produced by Sandra Bullock, and Roy Lee and Miri Yoon for Vertigo Entertainment, with Mark Millar and Greg Capullo serving as Executive Producers on the film.
