Netflix is rebooting the Unsolved Mysteries series. The popular docuseries is being revived with the original creators (Cosgrove/Meurer Productions) along with the producers of Stranger Things (21 Laps). The original Unsolved Mysteries ran for 11 seasons, and contained over 260 episodes chronicling over 1,000 stories. The show received six Emmy nominations. Netflix stated that the new version will still maintain the “chilling feeling” viewers loved about the original, while also telling the stories through the lens of a premium Netflix documentary series. According to the platform, each episode will focus on one mystery and will once again look to viewers to help aid investigators in closing the book on long outstanding cases.

Terry Dunn Meurer is showrunning this all-new version of the show she co-created with fellow EP John Cosgrove. Shawn Levy and Josh Barry are executive producing for 21 Laps.

Netflix has already ordered 12 episodes for the first season, but we don’t have a tentative premiere date at this time. “Unsolved Mysteries” is a Netflix production, with Terry Dunn Meurer serving as Co-Creator, Showrunner, and Executive Producer. The other Co-Creator is John Cosgrove, who is also serving an Executive Producer.

Shawn Levy and Josh Barry will also be Executive Producers. With Robert Wise serving as Co-Executive Producer and Showrunner.

The news comes just one-day after Netflix announced the casting for the platform’s next major holiday special. “Let it Snow” will feature quite a few Netflix stars, and is based on The New York Times bestselling book by YA bestsellers John Green, Maureen Johnson and Lauren Myracle. The cast for that project includes Isabela Moner (Instant Family, Transformers: The Last Knight, Dora The Explorer), Shameik Moore (Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse, The Get Down, Dope, Cut Throat City), Kiernan Shipka (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Mad Men), Odeya Rush (Dumplin, Lady Bird), Jacob Batalon (Spider-Man: Homecoming, Avengers: Infinity War, Every Day), Miles Robbins (Halloween, Blockers, The Day Shall Come), Mitchell Hope (Descendants), Liv Hewson (Santa Clarita Diet, Before I Fall), Anna Akana (You Get Me) and Joan Cusack (Shameless, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Working Girl).
