Sony Pictures’ “The Girl in the Spider’s Web” is releasing on Digital HD next week, with a Blu-ray and DVD release to follow shortly after. The film will release on Digital on January 22nd, while the Blu-ray and DVD release will happen on February 5th. With some of the winter television series coming to a close this week, it’s nice to see that we will have quite a few movie options to stream during the rest of January and into February.

You can grab the Digital version of the film on iTunes and Prime Video. If you would like the retail versions, you can find them right here on Amazon.

The film stars Golden Globe and Emmy-winner Claire Foy as Lisbeth Salander, along with Sverrir Gudnason, Lakeith Stanfield, Sylvia Hoeks, Stephen Merchant, Claes Bang, Christopher Convery, Synnøve Macody Lund, and Vicky Krieps. Fede Alvarez directed the film, working from a screenplay by Steven Knight, Fede Alvarez, and Jay Basu.

The film debuted in sixth-place last November, opening during an extremely crowded box office. The film debuted on the same weekend as the holiday hit “Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch, while “Bohemian Rhapsody,” Disney’s “The Nutcracker and the Four Realms,” and “A Star is Born” were already in theaters. “The Girl in the Spider’s Web” made $7M for Sony Pictures on opening weekend before going on to make almost $35M worldwide.

Last year was big for Claire Foy. The actor also starred in the drama “First Man” with Ryan Gosling, and continued her work on the hit Netflix series “The Crown.”

As for the director, Fede Alvarez, he is expected to direct a sequel to the 2016 horror-thriller “Don’t Breathe,” and a remake of the hit fantasy adventure “Labyrinth.” We don’t have any casting updates on those two films yet, but fans of the genres should be happy to see that the two projects are in the works.
