HBO isn’t just teasing the final season of “Game of Thrones” anymore, the network is also giving viewers a quick glimpse of the new series “Watchmen.” Earlier tonight HBO released a preview trailer for the network’s upcoming 2019 programming slate, and its filled with fan favorites. You won’t see much of “Game of Thrones” or “Watchmen,” but it’s probably enough to get fans of the franchises excited for their big debut on HBO.
On the “Game of Thrones” side, viewers will see Daenerys arriving at Winterfell, a big moment that was bound to happen soon or later. Daenerys is greeted by Sansa Stark and Jon Snow, with Sansa telling Daenerys, “Winterfell is yours, your grace.” In the previous seasons, Sansa has never met Daenerys, so it should be a very exciting scene to watch.
Sadly this will be the final season of “Game of Thrones,” and the network has a lot of ground to cover in a short amount of time. In 2018 HBO confirmed that Season 8 will debut in April, but the network has not announced an exact premiere date at this time.
Switching over to “Watchmen,” fans of the original content will see multiple character reveals, but all behind masks. Viewers will be able to point out Jeremy Irons, but both clips will leave you wanting more.
HBO also dropped in a teaser for the new season of “Big Little Lies,” one of HBO’s biggest dramas. This year Meryl Streep is joining the cast, and bringing back Season 1 stars Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon.
Other shows headed to HBO in 2019 include the final season of “Veep” and the third season of “True Detective,” this time starring Mahershala Ali.
