Fans that were excited to see Britney Spears’ new Las Vegas residency, titled “Britney: Domination,” found out today that the show has been indefinitely postponed. Spears announced today on social media that she’s taking a work hiatus to be with her father, Jamie Spears, who is currently recuperating from a “recent life-threatening illness.” No details were given at this time, but fans rushed to send Spears and her family their thoughts and prayers. Jamie Spears has been the legal guardian of Britney Spears ever since Britney agreed to a conservatorship; those events followed her hospitalization back in 2008.

The new “Britney: Domination” show was first announced back in 2018. The new Las Vegas residency was to be held at the Park MGM and begin on February 13th. Had everything gone according to plan, the residency would have continued Spears’ run in the city for another two-years. Spears recently wrapped her four-year residency at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas and has been keeping up on social media while teasing fans with new dances and workouts. It’s unclear what will happen with the “Britney: Domination” deal, but more information will be announced at a later date.

This isn’t the first health scare in the Spears family. Roughly two months ago Spears’ sister, Jamie Spears, suffered a ruptured colon and had surgery. Jamie Spears is expected to make a full recovery.

“I am dedicating my focus and energy to care for my family. We have a very special relationship and I want to be with my family at this time just like they have always been there for me,” Spears said in a statement to fans on Instagram on Friday. “Thank you to all my fans for your continued love and support during this time. I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and I look forward to the time when I can be back on stage performing for all of you.”
