Netflix has started teasing “The Punisher Season 2,” reminding Marvel fans that the antihero is still one of the remaining Marvel properties on the streaming service. “The Punisher” still has a second season on the way, which is good news for fans of the character since Netflix has been chopping down Marvel series left and right. Netflix has already pulled the plug on “Daredevil,” “Luke Cage,” and “Iron Fist,” and Netflix hasn’t announced any new Marvel series to take their place. Right now, the only other Marvel series remaining on Netflix is “Jessica Jones,” which is coming back with a third season later this year.
As for “The Punisher,” he will back with all-new episodes, but Netflix didn’t announce a release date at this time. Frank Castle will once again be unleashing his own brand of vigilantism and vengeance in the new season, but we will have to wait a little longer to know when we can stream it.
The teaser trailer doesn’t show much, just Castle burning the official pardon that he got at the end of season one. That probably means that his alter-ego isn’t done cleansing the world of evil, and he will be back to his old tricks in no time.
“The Punisher” series was established after fans rallied behind Jon Bernthal’s portrayal of the character in “Daredevil.” The character was such a success that Netflix gave the Punisher a spinoff series. Despite the popularity, the Punisher sat on the sidelines during “The Defenders.” You can watch the teaser trailer below, which was posted to Instagram earlier today.
The question everyone has been asking is if the canceled Marvel characters will be moving to Disney+, Disney’s new streaming service. There’s no clear answer at this point, and since no Disney+ series with Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, or Iron Fist has reportedly started filming, the outlook looks grim. There will be new Marvel series to watch on Disney+, and there’s always a chance that a few of our heroes could appear in an episode or two, we will have to wait and see.
