Jordan Peele is back with an all-new thriller called “US,” and the studio released a fist look trailer for the film as an early Christmas present to fans of the genre. The film will feature Lupita Nyong’o, Winston Duke, Elisabeth Moss, Tim Heidecker, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Anna Diop, Evan Alex, Shahadi Wright Joseph, Madison Curry, Cali Sheldon, and Noelle Sheldon.
Peele’s “Get Out” was an instant hit for Universal Pictures when the film released in 2017. The thriller made over $33.7M on opening weekend, and went on to make over $255M worldwide. The film had an estimated $4.5M budget, proving once again that horror-thrillers can pay off huge for studios. Peele wrote and directed “Get Out,” the film starred Daniel Kaluuya, Alison Williams, Catherine Keener, Bradley Whitford, and Lakeith Stanfield.
“Us” will have some competition when it hits theaters early next year. Lionsgate is starting the month with the release of the Tom Holland and Daisy Ridley adventurer “Chaos Walking,” along with the comedy “Tyler Perry’s A Madea Family Funeral”. The big release in March is the Marvel installment “Captain Marvel” with Brie Larson, which is releasing one-week before “Us” hits theaters.
Paramount Pictures is also releasing the animated-adventure “Wonderpark” the week after “Us” hits theaters, that film will feature the voice talents of Matthew Broderick, Jennifer Garner, Jeffrey Tambor, Kenan Thompson, Ken Jeong, Mila Kunis, and John Oliver.
The other big releases in March include Tom Hanks’ “Greyhound;” the YA drama “Five Feet Apart;””The Informer” with Joel Kinnaman, Rosamund Pike, Clive Owen, Common, and Ana de Armas; the drama “Where’d You Go, Bernadette” with Cate Blanchett, Kristen Wiig, Judy Greer, Billy Crudup, and Laurence Fishburne; “Captive State” with John Goodman and Vera Farmiga; and Disney’s live-action “Dumbo” adaptation.
Academy Award winner Jordan Peele wrote and directed “Us” for Universal Pictures. Peele produces for his Monkeypaw Productions alongside Sean McKittrick and Jason Blum. Also producing is Monkeypaw’s Ian Cooper.
“Us” will release in Theatres on March 15, 2019.
