Gal Gadot and the crew of “Wonder Woman 1984” are finally done filming the movie. The project, which started last June, recently wrapped production and is heading off to the editing room for the final touches.
Wonder Woman herself shared a post to Instagram this morning, notifying fans that the film has finished production. The photo features Gadot in full Wonder Woman apparel with others on set. Another picture from Gadot features the actor with franchise director Patty Jenkins.
The caption reads, “We shot in 4 very different locations in 3 countries, and I’m so soooo proud of the almost 1000 crew members who came to set every day, giving everything they have into our movie.”
The highly anticipated sequel will be Wonder Woman’s second installment in the DC Extended Universe or DCEU. The first film in the spinoff franchise grossed over $821M worldwide, and $412M domestically. The original “Wonder Woman” still holds the record as the highest-grossing film from a female director.
“Wonder Woman 1984” will once again feature fan favorites Gal Gadot and Chris Pine, with Kristen Wiig playing the antagonist named Cheetah. The Wonder Woman character has already appeared in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” “Justice League,” and of course “Wonder Woman.”
“Wonder Woman: 1984” was initially slated to release on November 1, 2019, but Warner Bros. Pictures moved the film to June. Fans of the superhero will want to set a reminder to catch the movie when it hits theaters on June 5, 2020.

We did it. Again!! And as much as the first time shooting Wonder Woman was amazing, this time was even more unique and special.. We shot in 4 very different locations in 3 countries, and I'm so soooo proud of the almost 1000 crew members who came to set every day, giving everything they have into our movie. Couldn't ask for better partners on this.. I'm so lucky to have the one and only Patty Jenkins, as my director. She always has our backs, she gives us the wings to dare, and everyday she helped us find the most creative version of ourselves .. I am so grateful to call her my friend. And to our AMAZINGly talented cast who made every day enjoyable and fun, thank you! Honestly.. Words cannot describe this experience.. This journey was so demanding and challenging but we all came and did our very best every take, every day, putting our all out there and I’m so proud… Thank you universe for this opportunity. I love this character. And thank you to all of you for being the best fans in the world. It was you that made me push myself every day. I'm so happy and excited, can't wait to share it with you in 2020! ❤️ Gal
Gal Gadot is expected to return to the character for “Justice League: Part II,” which should feature Ben Affleck, Joe Manganiello as Deathstroke, and Jesse Eisenberg. That project is a little up in the air, we don’t have a set cast for the film, and Warner Bros. Pictures has not set a release date at this time. The DCEU is also expected to release another Batman film with Joe Manganiello’s Deathstroke character, which would have Ben Affleck returning as Batman. Matt Reeves is expected to Direct that installment. Fans will just have to wait for more confirmations from Warner Bros. Pictures, but they have Wonder Woman to look forward to next summer.
