Sony Pictures’ “Men in Black” franchise is coming back this summer, with a new cast and a new set of alien problems. The studio released the first trailer for the film today, giving fans a preview of the new spinoff while introducing two new agents.
This installment will be called “Men in Black: International,” and it’s scheduled to hit theaters on June 14th, 2019. In this new adventure, the agents tackle their biggest threat to date: a mole in the Men in Black organization.
The film was directed by F. Gary Gray, working from a script written by Art Marcum and Matt Holloway. The story is based on the Malibu Comic by Lowell Cunningham. “Men in Black: International” will be the fourth installment to the franchise, but it will feature new characters.
Starring Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson, who are teaming up once again after starring with one another in “Thor: Ragnarok,” are Rebecca Ferguson, Kumail Nanjiani, Rafe Spall, Laurent Bourgeois, Larry Bourgeois, Emma Thompson, and Liam Neeson.
Walter F. Parkes and Laurie MacDonald Produced the project, with Steven Spielberg, E. Bennett Walsh, and Barry Sonnenfeld serving as Executive Producers.

The first “Men in Black” film released in 1997, the film starred Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith and was an instant success for Sony Pictures. The original release made over $589M for the studio and the success of the film earned the franchise a sequel. Released in 2002, “Men in Black II” made over $441M worldwide, and brought back Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones while introducing several new characters. The sequel also featured Rip Torn, Lara Flynn Boyle, Johnny Knoxville, Rosario Dawson, Tony Shalhoub, and Patrick Warburton. “Men in Black III” declined in overall gross, but still made $624M worldwide.
“Men in Black: International” will hit theaters on June 14, 2019.
