Marvel’s first look at “Avengers: Endgame” is already one for the record books. The first trailer for the highly anticipated film hit YouTube on Monday and the video has already reached 289M views in a 24-hour period. The previous winner was “Avengers: Infinity War,” that film had 230M views in a single day. Disney is having a terrific month on its own, the live-action “Lion King” trailer had 224.6M views in a single-day after the film released its first trailer.
Marvel took to Twitter to thank fans saying, “To the greatest fans in the world, thank you for being there from the beginning until the endgame and making this the most viewed trailer in history with 289M views in 24 hours!”.
As for the film itself, “Avengers: Endgame” was directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, the same team that directed “Avengers: Infinity War”. While the exact cast list is being kept a secret for plot reasons, the film is expected to feature Scarlett Johansson, Brie Larson, Bradley Cooper, Karen Gillan, Evangeline Lilly, Chris Hemsworth, Robert Downey Jr., Michelle Pfeiffer, Chris Evans, Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Rudd, Tilda Swinton, Sebastian Stan, Pom Klementieff, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Dave Bautista, Gwyneth Paltrow, Chadwick Boseman, Frank Grillo, Letitia Wright, and Don Cheadle.
The next Avengers title will have a big record to beat when the film finally hits theaters this summer, “Avengers: Infinity War: opened last April with a $257M weekend before going on to make over $2B worldwide.
The new Avengers movie won’t be the next release, that will be “Captain Marvel” on March 8, 2019. That film was directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck. Starring in the titular role of Captain Marvel is Academy Award winner Brie Larson, she will be joined by Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace, Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan, Algenis Perez Soto, Rune Temte, and McKenna Grace. Also featured in the film are Clark Gregg and Jude Law.
