IMDb shared the Top 10 Stars and Top 10 Breakout Stars of 2018, a collection of names that is based on an actor’s surging popularity over the past year. IMDb determines its top 10 lists using data from IMDbPro STARmeter rankings, which are based on the actual page views of more than 250M monthly unique visitors to IMDb.

“People turn to IMDb first to learn more about the talented actors behind phenomenal performances, which makes the IMDbPro STARmeter chart a uniquely accurate predictor of stars who are about to have a breakthrough career moment, including previous No. 1 Breakout Stars of the year Bill Skarsgård (2017), Millie Bobby Brown (2016), Bryce Dallas Howard (2015) and Margot Robbie (2014),” said Matt Kumin, Head of IMDbPro. “The suite of convenient IMDbPro tools and real-time insights, including our iPhone and Android apps and authoritative box office data from Box Office Mojo, empowers our members throughout the year with information that can make a difference in their projects and careers.”

At the top of the IMDb Top 10 Stars of 2018 list is Karen Gillan, who recently played Martha in the new Jumanji reboot for Sony and Nebula for Marvel Studios. The following names on the list, in order, are Bryce Dallas Howard; Alicia Vikander; Tom Hardy; Rebecca Ferguson; Lily James; Jessica Barden; Hannah John-Kamen; Josh Brolin; and Tessa Thompson. You will find quite a few Marvel heroes/villains on that list, so it seems Marvel viewers are quick to search through IMDb when checking in on their favorite franchises.

At the top of the 10 stars who consistently ranked highest on the IMDbPro STARmeter chart throughout 2018, is Jessica Barden from the film “Hanna”. The following names are Hannah John-Kamen from “Ant-Man and the Wasp”; Tessa Thompson from “Creed II” and “Thor: Ragnarok”; Martha Higareda from “Altered Carbon”; Michael B. Jordan from “Creed II” and “Black Panther”; Olivia Cooke from “Ready Player One”; Noah Centineo from “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before”; Kiernan Shipka from “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina”; John Krasinski from “Jack Ryan”; and Jacob Elordi from “The Kissing Booth”.
