Walt Disney Pictures released a late-night teaser trailer for “Artemis Fowl,” the new adaptation is coming to theaters later this summer. The film was directed by Kenneth Branagh and is based on the popular book by Eoin Colfer. Conor McPherson wrote the screenplay for the adaptation and “Artemis Fowl” is set to release in theaters on August 9th.
As for the story, “Artemis Fowl” follows 12-year-old genius Artemis Fowl, a descendant of a long line of criminal masterminds, as he finds himself in a battle of strength and cunning against a powerful, hidden race of fairies who may be behind his father’s disappearance. The film stars Ferdia Shaw, Lara McDonnell, Tamara Smart, Nonzo Anozie, Josh Gad, and Judi Dench.
Disney’s previous big adaptation was “A Wrinkle in Time,” directed by Ava DuVernay. The film opened in second-place back in March, behind Disney’s own “Black Panther” movie, and made $33M on its debut. That adaptation featured Storm Reid, Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon, Mindy Kaling, Chris Pine, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Zach Galifianakis, Michael Pena, David Oyelowo, and Will McCormack. The adaptation made $100M domestically before going on to make over $132M worldwide.
Judy Hofflund and Kenneth Branagh are producing “Artemis Fowl” with Angus More Gordon and Matthew Jenkins serving as executive producers. Fans of the book can watch the official teaser-trailer below.
