If you were watching the Eagles vs. Cowboys game on NBC last night, you missed E! celebrating the best in movies, television, music, and pop culture with the “People’s Choice Awards”. The event was broadcast live from Barker Hanger in Santa Monica, California and Marvel and Freeform were the hits of the night. A few of the standout performances from the event included Nicki Minaj, a tribute by John Legend to honor The People’s Champion award recipient Bryan Stevenson, and Rita Ora who performed a song from her highly anticipated new album “Phoenix.”

Marvel’s “Avengers: Infinity War” took home the awards for Movie of 2018, Action Movie of 2018, and the film won Scarlett Johansson Female Star of the year. Marvel also earned Chadwick Boseman the award for Male Star of 2018 and Danai Gurira the award for Action Movie Star of the year. Both of those awards were for their roles in “Black Panther”. Disney also took home the award for Family Movie of 2018 with “Incredibles 2”.

Wrapping up the other awards in film, Comedy Movie of the year went to “The Spy Who Dumped Me,” but Melissa McCarthy won the award for Comedy Movie Star of 2018 with “Life of the Party”. The film “Fifty Shades Freed” won the award for Drama Movie and gave Jamie Dornan the award for Drama Movie Star of the year.

In television the Show of 2018 was awarded to “Shadowhunters,” over on Freeform, which is coming to an end after this season. The show also won Katherine McNamara the award for Female TV Star of 2018 and Harry Shum Jr. the award for Male Star of the year. “Shadowhunters” also won the award for Sci-Fi/Fantasy Show of 2018. CW’s “Riveredale” won the award for Drama Show while “Dynasty” wont the award for Revival Show of the year. The Comedy of the year went to “Orange Is The New Black” and the award for Reality Show of 2018 went to “Keeping Up with the Kardashians”.
